Eagle Island Lodge

Botswana | Okavango Delta

Eagle Island Camp is located in the Gunns concession of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. Eagle Island Lodge is reached by light aircraft, taking about 20 minutes from Maun and roughly 90 minutes from Kasane. The airstrip is adjacent to the lodge, within walking distance.

At around 125 square kilometers, the Okavango Gunns Concession is a high-quality safari area of classic delta landscapes, abundant wildlife, and a lovely network of floodplains for water-based safari Jul-Oct. This is one of the most luxurious safari camps in the Okavango Delta owned by the Belmond Group.

Eagle Island’s eleven luxury tents are raised on wooden platforms under thatched roofs, each with its own plunge pool. Luxury is indeed key here, from the comfortable king-size bed and mosquito net, to the minibar with a cocktail shaker and mixing kit, along with a hairdryer, safe, WiFi, and air conditioning. The large en-suite bathroom comes complete with a dressing room, bath, separate toilet cubicle, both indoor and outdoor showers, and plenty of toiletries.

The camp is centered around a large thatched deck, with a dining area at one end, a bar in the middle, and a lounge area, overlooking the floodplains towards Chief’s Island.

Activities include a mokoro canoe, motorboat, and walking safaris with professional guides. Due to being surrounded by vast wetlands, there are no vehicles permitted on this concession.
